The international new music festival Tallinn Music Week (TMW) is shaping up for the 17th edition on 3-6 April. 175 artists from 39 countries are set to transform Estonia’s capital into a global sonic celebration.

“Festival for tomorrow’s music, arts and ideas” TMW will take place for the 17th time this spring. The showcase programme of one of Europe’s most important talent festivals, is scheduled to take place across various venues of Tallinn’s burgeoning Telliskivi Creative City, Noblessner and Kopli districts from 3-5 April. The genre-crossing programme ranges from Finno-Ugric traditional music to global digipop, and from jazz and contemporary classical to choral music and modern fusion styles.
Artists will converge from Europe, North and South America, East Asia, Africa, and Australia for 28 showcase nights. Finland leads among the foreign countries with 22 performers, followed by the UK (10), Sweden (9), Germany (7), and Canada, France, Latvia, and Lithuania (6 each).
Special spotlight is placed on the current export breakthroughs and future makers of Estonian music. Among the 76 acts of domestic origin are the dream pop band Night Tapes, recent winners of the Music Moves Europe Award at the ESNS festival, and the accordion innovator Tuulikki Bartosik with the supergroup The Rocket, in collaboration with Swedish jazz guru Svante Söderqvist’s trio. Notable names of international reach include globe-trotting folk flagships Puuluup, Mari Kalkun, and Duo Ruut, electronic art pop mavericks Ajukaja & Mart Avi, vocal jazz virtuosos Estonian Voices, sound artist and pianist Hanakiv, and Motovilov Trio, which has recently entered Warner Classic’s orbit.
Among the current trendsetters of the local music scene are the spicy queer pop sensation White Girl, young multi-talent boipepperoni, estrada soul renovators Haldi & ans Flamingo, R&B’s new voice INGA, the finalist of the national Eurovision Song Contest selection Marta Lotta, Borm Bubu, juggling bedroom punk and jazz fusion, and Kännu Peal Käbi, on a mission to capture all Uralic languages in their songs.
Night Tapes, Puuluup, Ajukaja & Mart Avi, Estonian Voices, INGA, and White Girl are also nominated at the Estonian Music Awards this week for their work from the past year.
Among the notable international performers are Swedish-American country pro Anthony Mills, who has toured with Harry Belafonte, Amy Winehouse, and KRS-One, Finland’s indie legend PK Keränen’s project, The Moontwins, Berlin’s avant-gardists hackedepicciotto, Welsh electro-pop star Ani Glass, and Guinea’s afropop-meets-jazz wizard Abdoulaye Kouyaté. Other significant performers include the award-winning musician and model Annael from France, Palestinian civic voice Bashar Murad, Vulva Voce from the UK, blending folk and contemporary classical, the electronic jazz ensemble Salome from Germany, and the Czech noise rock squad sinks. The lineup also features six breakthrough acts from this year’s ESNS festival, including Norwegian dream pop project Yndling, Slovak post-punks Berlin Manson, and the art pop visionaries Lucy Dreams, with an AI talent named Lucy alongside two Austrian humans.
The showcase nights are curated by both TMW’s seasoned collaborators and several new players. UNESCO Music City Tallinn hosts Sounds of the Cities night, bringing a selection of artists from music cities around the world to Estonian capital. Curatorial newcomers also include ÅÄÖ…Sounds Swedish talent platform, local up-and-coming record label Kurvad Uudised; Roots Session, inspired by legacy genres, Backstage Records, and Tallinn’s event series Dreamscape and Reivile Minuga, presenting experimental electronic and dance music respectively.
Estonian promoters are also Viljandi Folk Music Festival, the travelling summer festival Võnge, and East Estonia’s leading music & city celebration Station Narva as well as the national music organisations from the Estonian Choral Association to the Jazz Union, NPO Fenno-Ugria, and Heavy Music Association. The popular Funk Embassy party is back for another year along with the Folktronica Stage, Africa NOW!, Laine Live and Soda Pop nights and the club and live events by Paavli Culture Factory.
International collaborators are Europe’s leading classical and contemporary music showcase Classical:NEXT, the Dutch agency Yugofuturism, dedicated to musical dissidents from Central and Eastern Europe, Baltic grassroots culture network Cindy & Kate, and European Capital of Culture Oulu2026 from Finland in partnership with the Estonian club culture event unda. Finland will also be present with the country’s leading dark music festival Blowup. The Made in Canada night will once again present the rising stars from the land of the Maple Leaf, and JV-Promotion will dedicate itself to introducing Taiwan’s talent.
TMW 2025 music festival passes and PRO passes providing access to the music festival and conference are on sale at the TMW webshop.
