This autumn, from November 2–6, RIGA MUSIC WEEK (RMW) — a new, multidimensional music industry event — will take place in Riga, Latvia. The event will feature several key components: a festival and showcase performances by emerging artists and bands, the RIGaLIVE songwriting camp, a music industry conference, a music tech expo, and a variety of networking activities.
Agnese Cimuška-Rekke, the creator and driving force behind RIGA MUSIC WEEK (RMW), emphasizes: “RIGA MUSIC WEEK (RMW) is a vital initiative to position Latvian music on the international music map — as an equal and competitive player. It allows us to focus on the strengths of our industry, highlight opportunities, and address challenges. This type of event not only strengthens the music sector but also affirms its significant role in Latvia’s culture and economy. The idea for RIGA MUSIC WEEK (RMW) developed over an extended period, inspired by observing the essential role that similar professional gatherings and industry platforms play in other countries, where for years they have served as key engines for sector growth and music export development.”
As part of the RIGA MUSIC WEEK (RMW) industry conference, taking place on November 5–6, the program will feature panel discussions on key topics shaping the music sector, hands-on masterclasses, and interviews with leading international industry figures. The first confirmed international conference guests include: Fruzsina Szep (Lollapalooza Berlin & Superbloom), Lisa Nasta (Glastonbury), Mark Bona (Sziget), Robert Meijerink (Eurosonic Noorderslag), Franz Hergovich (Waves Vienna & Austrian Music Export Office), Toomas Olljum (Made in Baltics), Guillaume Warmerdam (LAB Music, MakeWaves.fm, Vokall Records), Sebastian Król (Backseat PR, Fanklub, Norden Festival), Christoph Hallerberg (Backseat Coaching), and Maarten Leopold.
Helen Sildna, Founder and Head of Tallinn Music Week, shares: “We are thrilled to welcome Riga Music Week to the international music calendar! Music and culture are powerful reasons for people to travel and to connect with a city and country in meaningful new ways. RMW will undoubtedly strengthen Latvia’s presence on the international music map and spotlight beautiful Riga as a vibrant music city. I can’t wait to visit and see Latvian music take its well-deserved place in the spotlight!”
Robert Meijerink, Head of Program at ESNS Conference and Festivals, says: “I’m looking forward to participating in the first edition of Riga Music Week and experiencing the creativity and energy of Latvian and Baltic artists. It’s an exciting region with so much to offer — musically and culturally.”
Until July 7, musicians are invited to apply to perform as part of the RIGA MUSIC WEEK (RMW) showcase festival program. The lineup will feature artists and bands from Latvia, the Baltics, Europe, and beyond, representing a diverse range of musical genres. Artist application form: rigamusicweek.lv/artist-open-call
