Elektroninės muzikos biblijos „Resident Advisor“ šlovinamas didžėjus Recondite jau kelerius metus įrašytas į „Best Live Act“ sąrašo topą. Šia karūna pats Recondite (tikrasis vardas – Lorenz Brunner) nesididžiuoja ir laiko tai subjektyviu ir laikinu dalyku. Bet kuriuo atveju, nepastebėti atlikėjo talento negalima. Gyvi Recondite pasirodymai ypatingi tuo, kad atlikėjas nebūna pasiruošęs nė vienam iš jų – dainas parenka tiesiog vietoje, įsijausdamas į auditorijos bangas. Bet jokiu būdu negalima sakyti, kad Recondite nedaro namų darbų – kasdieniame jo gyvenime muzika, rodos, visuomet užėmė svarbiausią vietą. Dar iki tada, kai tapo visame pasaulyje geidžiamu live-act‘u, Lorenz Brunner grodavo ir kurdavo muziką, o dirbdavo tiek, kad pakaktų pinigų dar daugiau groti ir kurti muziką.
Atmosferinis techno, kurį kuria Recondite, yra tartum geografinė koreliacija su jo gimtuoju kraštu – kaimo vietovėmis Vokietijoje. Net ir semplus savo muzikai atlikėjas parsiveža iš Bavarijos miškų bei slėnių. Šis asmeniškumas ir yra viena patraukliausių atlikėjo savybių – nuoširdumą gali justi ir gyvame pasirodyme ir pačiuose muzikos garsuose.
Lietuvoje Recondite lankėsi 2015-aisiais, o šiemet jo pasirodymą galėsime stebėti elektroninės muzikos festivalyje “Into The Valley” Estijoje.
Pasekus tave socialinėse medijose, matosi, kad su savo auditorija turi artimą ir asmenišką ryšį. Tokio pat asmeniškumo tikiesi ir prisitaikydamas prie auditorijos vaibo pasirodymų metu?
Kuriamas ryšys skiriasi kiekviename pasirodyme, kiekvienoje šalyje, kiekviename mieste. Tačiau visuomet vertinu, kai jis yra atviras, pagarbus ir entuziastingai abipusis.
Kaip persikraustymas į Berlyną ir pats miestas pakeitė tavo požiūrį į muziką?
Manau, tą įtaką buvau gavęs dar prieš persikeliant į Berlyną. Berlynas mane susiejo su daugiau panašiai kaip aš mąstančių žmonių.
Ar reikia būti emociškai stipriam, kad spėtum kartu su elektroninės muzikos industrija?
Taip, manau tikrai reikia. Bet taip pat bijau, kad šiandien emociškai stiprus turi būti daugelyje darbų ir veiklų.
Kartais tikriausiai tai būna tikras iššūkis?
Be jokios abejonės. Svarbiausia rasti asmeninį balansą. Kai esi paklausus – vertink tai, bet mokėk pasakyti „Ne“ dalykams, kurie turėtų per didelę neigiamą įtaką tavo psichiniam ir fiziniam gerbūviui.
Koks vaikas buvai mokykloje, Bavarijoje?
Buvau sukalbamas, bet atsisakydavau mokytis dalykus, kurie man nepatiko. Niekad nebuvau peštukas ar klounas, mane mokykloje gerbė, bet tuo pačiu nebuvau visų numylėtinis… Nemėgstamų dalykų vengimas pridarydavo man bėdų.
Mėgai muziką, menus?
Taip, ypatingai muziką. Mano šeima yra pilna entuziastingų muzikos vartotojų. Išskirtinai įdėmiai klausytis muzikos pradėjau nuo labai mažų dienų.
Kokios dainos dabar klauseisi paskutinės?
Tuoj patikrinsiu “Spotify”… “Clara Schumann – Konzertsatz A minor”
Kaip lietuvė privalau paklaust – ar planuoji grįžti į Lietuvą pagroti čia vėl?
Labai tikiuosi ir, manau, kad taip ir bus. Ten man labai patiko.
Šią vasarą grosi Estijoje, “Into The Valley” festivalyje. Ar jau mąstei, kuria linkme suks tavo grojaraštis? Visgi grosi tokioje išskirtinėje vietoje, tarp dviejų apleistų kalėjimų…
Manau, kad tokioje aplinkoje sukursiu tikrai išskirtinę atmosferą. Bet ne, nemąsčiau ir niekad nemąstau apie tai, ką grosiu. Parengsiu pirmus porą kūrinių, kuriuos sugrosiu valandą prieš setą, o po to improvizuosiu.
Jau keletą metų esi tituluojamas vienu geriausių live-acts pasaulyje. Tai bent pasiekimas!
Taip, vertinu tą paramą, kurią gaunu, bet asmeniškai nesuteikiu per daug svorio „geriausių“ sąrašams. Tai – laikina ir subjektyvu.
Ką darai, kai prarandi motyvaciją?
Sustoju ir atsitraukiu – svarbiausia, nereikia nieko spausti. Nekenčiu spaudimo.
Ką pasakytum jaunam kūrėjui, kuris tik pradeda muzikinę karjerą?
Patarčiau mesti mintis apie karjerą muzikos pasaulyje. Jei muziką kursi dėl karjeros, esi pasmerktas nuo pat pirmos dienos. Koncentruokis į mokymąsi tų technikų, kurios leis tau išreikšti brangiausius jausmus per muziką. Tai – svarbiausias dalykas muzikinės kelionės pradžioje.

Recondite: If you create for a career, you are screwed from day one
The Bible of electronic music “Resident Advisor” has praised Recondite many times. This DJ has been added to the top of the list of “Best Live Act” for a few years now. Recondite (real name – Lorenz Brunner) himself doesn’t take this crown for granted, as he says it’s a temporary and very subjective thing. Anyway, you can’t ignore the talent of this artist. His live shows are remarkable for his ability to play coalescing with the ambience of the venue and audience. The songs are always chosen at the very moment. But you can not say that Recondite doesn’t do his homework. I bet it’s the other way around – most of his life is devoted for music. Even before becoming world famous live act, Lorenz Brunner used to play and create music and worked just so he has money to play and create more music.
The atmospheric techno that Recondite is playing is like a geographical continuation of his homeland – rural areas in Germany. Even the samples for his music are often taken from Bavarian forests and valleys. This personalisation is one of the most attractive qualities of Recondite – you can feel the sincerity in his live shows and in the music itself.
Recondite has played a gig in Lithuania in 2015. This year you can watch his live show in Estonia at Into The Valley festival.
Following you on the social media, I can see that you are close and in a pretty personal contact with your audience. What kind of connection do you expect with your audience when you are on stage and off stage?
The connection differs from show to show, country to country and even city to city.
I appreciate an openminded, respectful and enthusiastic mutual vibe.
How did moving to berlin Berlin, and the Berlin city itself, influenced your approach to music?
I think I was influenced even before but Berlin got me more connected to likeminded people.
Does one need to be strong emotionally to keep up with the electronic music industry?
Yes – i think so. But I’m afraid nowadays you need to be emotionally strong in many jobs and many circumstances.
I bet it can be challenging sometimes.?
For sure – it’s all about finding your personal balance. When you’re in demand – appreciate it but learn to say no to things which could have too much negative impact on your mental and physical well being.
What kind of kid were you in school?
I was easy going but I refused to study the things i didn’t like.
I was never a troublemaker or a clown. I was well respected but not everybody’s darling…
Not studying got me into trouble.
Were you always into music and arts as a kid?
Yes – especially music. My family is full of enthusiastic music consumers. I started to listen to music very early with a particular ear.

As a Lithuanian I’ve got to ask you – are you planning to come back to Lithuania and play another gig there?
I hope so and I’m very positive that I will.
It’s always good there.
I will definitely see you this summer in Estonia, Into The Valley festival. Have you already thought of what kind of music would you like to play in a venue like that? (A valley with two abandoned prisons)..
No I haven’t – I never make plans. I’ll think of the first 2 tracks that I’ll play 1 hr before the set and then improvise.
But I hope it s gonna be a special atmosphere there with this exceptional surrounding.
For a few years in a row you are said to be one of the best live acts in the world. How do you feel about this kind of achievement?
I appreciate the support that i get but i personally dont put too much weight into “best of” lists.
It’s very temporary and subjective.
Are there times when you lose motivation? How do you deal with that?
Getting distance – not forcing any thing. I hate forcing stuff.
What would you advise to a young music artist who is about to start his music career?
Getting rid of thoughts about a career in music. If you re doing music for a career you are screwed from day one.
Focus on learning the techniques that allow you to express your dearest feelings within music is the most important thing at the start of a musical journey.
